Helenium Hayday Red Rooted Cutting Liner

For best results with Hayday Red, plant one rooted plug per 6-inch container or two to three per 10-inch container. Use a well-drained soil with a pH of 5.8-6.2, EC of 1.5-2.1 (SME), temperatures of 78-80 daytime and 64-66 nighttime, and medium feed (200-250 ppm N). Pinch once, 7-10 days after transplanting. This plant doesn't typically require PGRs but will respond to B-Nine. Helenium is an obligate long-day plant, requiring 14 hours or more of light at 6,000-8,000 fc, and will need daylight extension or nighttime interruption lighting. Watch for powdery mildew and rust.

Red flowers bloom from summer through fall.

Space containers for adequate airflow and sunlight penetration around the base of each plant.

This plant doesn't usually need PGRs. If necessary, use B-Nine spray at 2,500 ppm. 

This plant isn't prone to pests.

This plant can be prone to rust and powdery mildew, a fungal infection that thrives in cool, wet weather. Prevent disease in your greenhouse by watering at the base of each plant in the morning, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Provide good airflow in your greenhouse; we recommend using horizontal airflow fans. Space containers so sunlight can penetrate to the soil level of each plant. You may choose to treat powdery mildew with a fungicide.

We recommend planting one rooted liner per 6-inch container or two to three per 10-inch container. Use a well-drained soil and bury the ellepot just below the surface of the planting media, evenly spaced in the container.
