Stream Champagne, also known as Alyssum or Sweet Alyssum, is an annual flowering plant native to the Mediterranean. Danziger developed the Stream series for superior heat tolerance and a uniform habit. This plant offers a mounded habit of 4-6" tall and 10-18" wide, with prolific, small, cream-colored flowers from early spring until frost. Its honey scent attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, adding charm to the landscape. Alyssum excels in mixed containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, and landscape beds, flourishing in full sun with moderate water. Attract pollinators to the vegetable garden by planting Alyssum among the crops. Or pair Champagne with Raspberry Stream and Violet Stream for a cheerful border or container.
Stream Champagne Selling Tips
Sell Stream Champagne to customers looking for a long-blooming annual for a mixed container or hanging basket. Lobularia offers many benefits, including a mounded habit, good heat tolerance and cold resistance, and a pleasant honey aroma that attracts pollinators. Delicate off-white flowers bloom profusely from early spring until frost, bringing elegance to any patio container, hanging basket, or window box. Sweet Alyssum brings beneficial insects to the vegetable or herb garden and looks lovely in combination containers or a landscape alongside Salvia and Zinnias.
Coach Your Customer
1. Space plants 10-18" apart in well-drained soil in full sun.
2. Water once or twice a week or more often in dry weather.
3. Remove plants after frost or in the spring.
General Growing Tips For Your Rooted Cutting Liner
For best results with Stream Champagne, plant one rooted plug per 4-inch container or three per 10-inch container. Use well-drained soil with a pH of 5.6-6.0, EC of 0.8-1.0, average daily temperatures of 65-68, and light feed (100-150 ppm N). Pinching is optional, and a paclobutrazol drench will control height. Provide consistent moisture, allowing media to dry slightly between waterings. This plant is day-neutral and will grow well in cool temperatures. Watch for aphids and thrips. You may see botrytis or pythium during short, humid days or overly wet conditions.
Flowering
Small, off-white flowers bloom from early spring until frost.
Pinching
This plant doesn't require pinching. Pinch once 10 days after transplant if desired.
Spacing
Space containers for adequate airflow and sunlight penetration around the base and foliage of each plant. Usually, 2’ centers on baskets are sufficient.
Height Control
Maintaining high light intensity and pinching properly will best control stretching for Lobularia. Use a paclobutrazol drench at 1-2 ppm when plants are nearly finished to control growth if needed.
Pests
You may see aphids, whiteflies, and thrips.
Disease
Stream Champagne is susceptible to botrytis, leaf spots, stem blights, and root rot in overly wet conditions. Prevent infection by:
1. Watering at the base of each plant in the morning, allowing the plant to dry out between waterings.
2. Providing good airflow in your greenhouse. We recommend using horizontal airflow fans.
3. Spacing containers to allow sunlight to penetrate to the soil level of each plant
The most common chemicals used to treat fungal infections are Medallion and Banrot. Use them as a drench according to each label’s instructions.
Planting Stream Champagne Liners
We recommend planting one rooted plug per 4-inch container or three or four per 10-inch basket. Use a well-drained soil and completely bury the ellepot. Evenly space rooted plugs in 10-inch containers or center them in 4-inch containers.
Rooted Cuttings
Cuttings vary in size between different plant families. These rooted starter plants will arrive ready to be transplanted in to your final container. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot or an 1801 before planting outside.

Before we take this relationship any further...
It looks like this is the first time you've added anything to your cart.
We just wanted to remind you that we are a wholesale starter plant company that sells to businesses, schools, clubs, and other non-profits. State law dictates that you must be growing for resale to order from us since we are not collecting sales tax.
If we aren't a match, we understand. It's not you, it's us.
We would look awful in orange jumpsuits.
