Portulaca Molokiniensis is a perennial succulent native to Hawaii. This variety offers bright green, round leaves that stack to form a dense shrubbing habit 10-14" tall spreading up to 20" wide, with yellow flowers on tall stalks from spring through later summer. Perennial in zone 10-11, this plant flourishes in full sun with little water, tolerating sandy soil, drought, and heat. In cold regions, bring containers indoors over winter or grow Portulaca as a houseplant or annual.
Sell Portulaca Molokiniensis to customers looking for a low-maintenance succulent for a warm landscape or houseplant collection. This product offers many benefits, including sand, drought, and heat tolerance and attractive yellow blooms. This Hawaiian native flourishes in full sun with little more than rainwater and is a long-lasting perennial indoors or outdoors in zone 10-11. Though it won't withstand mild frosts, this plant can overwinter indoors in cold climates. Bring contrast and texture to the landscape or a container by pairing this plant with Sempervivum, Sedum, Coreopsis, Bulbine, Geranium, and Aurinia.

1. Space plants 15-18" apart in well-drained, sandy soil in full sun.
2. Water once a week during the first year to help establish a healthy root system. Water sparingly indoors or in wet weather.
3. Place containers on a sunny windowsill for the winter in regions colder than zone 10.
For best results with Portulaca Molokiniensis, plant one rooted liner per 4-inch container. Use well-drained sandy soil with a pH of 5.8-6.2, EC of 1.2-1.5, average daily temperatures of 68-72, and light feed (100-150 ppm N). You may see mealy bugs, scales, thrips, aphids, and spider mites. This plant isn't prone to disease, but fungal rot can develop in overly wet conditions.

This plant isn't prone to disease, but fungal rot can develop in overly wet conditions. Prevent fungal infections by following these protocols in your greenhouse:
1. Water at the base of each plant in the morning and allow the soil to dry completely between waterings.
2. Provide good airflow in your greenhouse. We recommend using horizontal airflow fans.
3. Space containers so sunlight can penetrate to the soil level of each plant. Grow this plant in full sun.
We recommend planting one rooted plug per 4-inch container. Use well-drained, sandy soil and completely bury the ellepot in the center of the container.
