Perforata Variegata, also known as String of Buttons, is a shrubbing succulent native to South Africa. This variety offers stacked rosettes of opposite pale green, cream, and pink triangular leaves with a trailing habit of 18" tall. This plant flourishes with minimal water in partial sun or bright indirect light, sometimes producing pale yellow flowers in spring. Evergreen in zone 9-11, this plant is summer dormant and excels as a houseplant or overwintered indoors. This Crassula variety is especially well-suited to houseplant containers and terrariums.
Perforata Variegata Selling Tips
Sell Perforata Variegata to customers looking for a low-maintenance succulent to add to a mixed container or houseplant collection. The unique foliage of this Crassula variety offers texture and visual interest with rosettes of opposite triangular stacked leaves, flourishing with occasional water and no other maintenance. This plant has pale green, cream, and pink leaves with a shrubbing, trailing habit of 18" tall, well-suited to hanging baskets and xeriscapes in zone 9-11 or terrariums and containers indoors. Flourishing in partial sun or bright indirect light, this plant can overwinter in containers indoors or grow as a houseplant in colder climates. Pale yellow flowers bloom in spring on this summer-dormant Crassula. Create striking contrast by planting this succulent alongside Aloe, Echeveria, Sedum, and Kalanchoe.
Coach Your Customer
1. Grow this plant indoors or overwinter containers indoors outside of zone 9-11.
2. Water deeply when the top 1-2 inches of soil are completely dry. It's better to underwater than overwater succulents, so err toward waiting a little too long.
3. Place indoor plants in a sunny window or bright indirect light. Too much intense afternoon sun can burn succulent leaves. Outdoors, grow this plant in partial or full sun.
General Growing Tips For Your Rooted Cutting Liner
For best results with Perforata Variegata, plant one rooted liner per 4-inch container or three per gallon container. Use a well-drained soil with a pH of 6.5-7.0, EC of .25-.75, temperatures of 68-85 daytime and 58-75 nighttime, and light feed (75-125 ppm N). Maintain light intensity at 5,000-7,500 fc. Pinching may encourage branching but delay finish time. You may see aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. This plant is only prone to fungal disease if it is overwatered.
Flowering
This plant is primarily grown for its succulent foliage. It can produce pale yellow flowers in spring.
Pinching
This plant doesn't require pinching. One pinch at transplant can promote branching but may delay finish time.
Spacing
Space containers for adequate airflow and sunlight penetration around the base of each plant.
Height Control
This plant doesn't require PGRs.
Pests
You may see mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites.
Disease
This plant isn't prone to disease. Overwatering can lead to root rot or fungal infection. Plant in a well-draining succulent media. Water at the base of each plant, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Provide good airflow in your greenhouse.
Planting Perforata Variegata Liners
We recommend planting one rooted liner per 4-inch container or three per gallon container. Use a well-drained soilless succulent media and completely bury the ellepot in the center or evenly spaced in the container.
Rooted Cuttings
Cuttings vary in size between different plant families. These rooted starter plants will arrive ready to be transplanted in to your final container. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot or an 1801 before planting outside.

It looks like this is the first time you've added anything to your cart.
We just wanted to remind you that we are a wholesale starter plant company that sells to businesses, schools, clubs, and other non-profits. State law dictates that you must be growing for resale to order from us since we are not collecting sales tax.
If we aren't a match, we understand. It's not you, it's us.
We would look awful in orange jumpsuits.
