Dahlia Cherie Red Rooted Cutting Liner

For best results with Dahlia, use one rooted liner per 4-, 6-, or 10-inch container. Use a well-drained soil with a pH of 5.6-6.1, EC of 1.0-1.2 (2:1), average daily temperatures of 65-68 degrees, and light feed (150-200 ppm N). This plant requires long days to bloom, so provide 14 hours of light, whether with night interruption or day extension lighting. Use daminozide and paclobutrazol as needed and pinch once or twice for large containers. You may see aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. Botrytis and root rot can affect this plant, and it is best to spray for powdery mildew preventatively. 

Space containers for adequate airflow and sunlight penetration around the base of each plant.

Apply a daminozide spray at 1,500 ppm at transplant if needed. Use a paclobutrazol drench at 1 ppm near finishing if needed.

You may see aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. 

This plant isn't especially prone to disease, but botrytis and root rot can affect it during short days or wet, humid conditions. Powdery Mildew can be a problem and it is best to apply a preventative spray at transplant. To prevent botrytis and root rot, water at the base of each plant in the morning, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Provide good airflow in your greenhouse. We recommend using horizontal airflow fans. Space plants so sunlight can penetrate to the soil level of each container. 

We recommend planting one rooted plug per container. Use a well-drained soil and completely bury the ellepot in the center of your container.
