Dianthus Sweet Mix Seedling Tray

Grow in full sun to partial sun with good air movement and well-drained soil. Keep the crop evenly moist but avoid keeping the media too wet, since dianthus does not perform well in soggy conditions. Maintain a soil pH around 5.8–6.5 and feed with a balanced fertilizer around 100–150 ppm nitrogen.

The plants will bloom from Spring to Fall in a mixture of shades. 

Pinching is not recommended for Dianthus Sweet Mix. This series naturally produces upright, usable stems, and pinching can delay flowering or make the crop less uniform.

Cut-flower growers should plant 4–6 plants per square foot to maintain airflow without sacrificing productivity. Garden spacing is generally 10–14 inches.

Scout regularly for aphids, especially on tender new growth and around developing flower buds. Growers should also watch for thrips, spider mites, and fungus gnats.

Watch for botrytis, powdery mildew, rust, fungal leaf spots, and root rot. Dianthus handles cool conditions well, but it still needs a clean, well-drained growing environment.

Container production is best with one plug in 4-inch pots and three to five plugs in 10-inch containers.
