Bring charm to patio containers, borders, cut flower gardens, and cottage gardens, attracting butterflies to the landscape with Western Star Leo. Grow Leo alongside Gemini and Pisces for a show of texture and color.
Sell Western Star Leo to customers looking for a long-lasting cutting flower for a garden or landscape border. Customers love Western Star Leo's long bloom season, low maintenance, and charming flowers. It resists deer and rabbits, attracts pollinators, and reaches 14-20" in height, producing well in the first year. Perennial in zone 4-9, this plant flourishes in full sun. Create an inviting cottage garden by growing Shasta Daisy alongside Coreopsis, Veronica, Daylily, Gaillardia, and Salvia.
For best results with Western Star Leo, plant one rooted plug per 4- or 6-inch container. Use a well-drained soil with a pH of 5.8-6.2, EC of 1.5-2.1 (SME), temperatures of 74-76 daytime and 68-70 nighttime, and low feed (125-175 ppm N). This facultative long-day plant requires daylight extension to 14 hours at 4,000-6,000 fc. Use a B-Nine spray to control growth or a Bonzi drench for holding. This plant doesn't require pinching, bulking, or vernalization. Watch for aphids, thrips, and botrytis.

Space containers for adequate airflow and sunlight penetration around the base and foliage of each plant.
Use a spray of B-Nine at 2,500 ppm to control growth. Hold by applying a Bonzi drench at 2-3 ppm at bud initiation.

This plant isn't prone to disease but watch for botrytis during cool, humid weather. Provide good airflow in your greenhouse and water at the base of each plant, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Space containers so sunlight can penetrate to the soil level of each plant.
We recommend planting one rooted liner per 4- or 6-inch container or three per 10-inch container. Use a well-drained soil and completely bury the ellepot in the center or evenly spaced in the container. Six-inch pots finish in 10-12 weeks.
