Dragons Blood, also known as Caucasian Stonecrop, is a perennial succulent native to Caucusus. This variety offers burgundy-edged bright green ovate succulent foliage that blushes red in autumn with a mat-forming habit of 4-6" tall and 12-18" wide. Red star-shaped flowers bloom on tall stems in August and September. This plant tolerates heat and drought, flourishing in partial or full sun with minimal water or care. Grow Stonecrop in a rock wall or rock garden, container, or well-drained sunny border. Dragons Blood is perennial in zone 3-9, well-suited to use as a groundcover.
Dragons Blood Selling Tips
Sell Dragons Blood to customers looking for a low-maintenance groundcover or evergreen succulent. This plant offers many benefits. It has a low, mat-forming habit and excels in full sun with little water, making it a perfect groundcover. Perennial and evergreen in zone 3-9, Caucasian Stonecrop brings unique burgundy and green color and texture to the garden year-round and is well-suited to rock gardens and walls or dry landscape borders. Enjoy year-round foliage and red flowers in summer. Create a striking blend of color and texture by growing this plant in containers alongside Coreopsis, Achillea, Sempervivum, Reed Grass, and Geranium.
Coach Your Customer
1. Space plants 12-18" apart in well-drained soil in full sun.
2. Water sparingly, only when the soil is dry.
General Growing Tips For Your Rooted Cutting Liner
For best results with Dragons Blood, plant one rooted plug per 4-inch container or three to five per 10-inch container. Use well-drained succulent media with a pH of 5.8-6.2, EC of 0.6-0.9 mS/cm (2:1), temperatures of 74-79 daytime and 59-64 nighttime, and low feed (100-175 ppm N). Maintain light intensity at 5,000-9,000 fc and pinch once or twice. Don't use PGRs and watch for spider mites. This plant isn't prone to disease, but root rot can develop in overly wet conditions.
Flowering
Star-shaped red flowers bloom on long stems in August and September.
Pinching
Pinch once or twice as needed.
Spacing
Space containers for adequate airflow and sunlight around the base and foliage of each plant.
Height Control
This plant doesn't require PGRs.
Pests
You may see spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs.
Disease
This plant isn't prone to disease but root rot and botrytis can develop in overly wet conditions. Growing this plant dry will prevent disease and control growth. Always take preventative measures in your greenhouse.
1. Water at the base of each plant in the morning, allowing the soil to dry between waterings.
2. Provide good airflow in your greenhouse. We recommend using horizontal airflow fans.
3. Space containers to allow airflow and sunlight to reach the soil level of each plant.
Planting Dragons Blood Liners
We recommend planting one rooted liner per 4-inch container or three to five per 10-inch container. Use well-drained soil and evenly space or center the ellepots in the containers.
Rooted Cuttings
Cuttings vary in size between different plant families. These rooted starter plants will arrive ready to be transplanted in to your final container. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot or an 1801 before planting outside.

Before we take this relationship any further...
It looks like this is the first time you've added anything to your cart.
We just wanted to remind you that we are a wholesale starter plant company that sells to businesses, schools, clubs, and other non-profits. State law dictates that you must be growing for resale to order from us since we are not collecting sales tax.
If we aren't a match, we understand. It's not you, it's us.
We would look awful in orange jumpsuits.
