Torenia Hi Lite Deep Blue Seedling Tray

For best results with Hi Lite Deep Blue, plant one rooted plug per 4-inch container or 3-5 per 10-inch basket. Use a well-drained soil in full sun with a pH of 5.5-5.9, an EC of SME 0.9-1.3 or PourThru 1.4-2.0, and light feed (75-125 ppm N). Maintain temperatures of 68-70 degrees and provide 14 hours of daylight (facultative long day) at 4,000-6,000 footcandles. This plant doesn't require pinching and rarely needs PGRs. You may see aphids, thrips, botrytis, or root rot.

This plant isn't prone to many diseases. You may see botrytis or root rot, especially when the days are short or humid. Prevent fungal infections by following a few simple steps:

1. Water at the base of each plant in the morning and allow plants to dry out between waterings.

2. Provide sufficient airflow and space plants so sunlight can reach the soil level of each container. We find industrial fans work well to promote airflow in the greenhouse.

3. Treat botrytis with Medallion and Banrot as a drench according to each label's instructions.

We recommend planting one rooted liner per 4-inch container or 3-5 per 10-inch container. Use a well-drained soil and do not fully bury the top of the ellepot. Plant plugs in the center of each container or evenly spaced in large baskets.
