Panama Red, also known as Coneflower, is a perennial native to the United States. This plant is an early-blooming variety developed by Danziger. It has an upright habit of 12-14" tall and large red blooms from early summer through fall. Echinacea is perennial in zone 5-7 and offers good heat tolerance and deer resistance. Besides medicinal applications, this plant is multifaceted in the landscape, performing well in full sun with moderate water. It flourishes in rock gardens, cottage landscapes, containers, cut flower beds, and borders. Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies love Coneflower, and the large seed heads make excellent bird food in the fall.
Sell Panama Red to customers looking for a low-maintenance perennial to add color to the landscape. Echinacea offers many benefits, including heat tolerance, hardiness to zone 5, deer resistance, and versatility. With little more than regular water, Coneflower flourishes in full sun, attracting pollinators to the garden. This plant is a fantastic addition to rock gardens, cottage landscape beds, containers, cut flower gardens, and borders. Create a stunning landscape bed by pairing Panama Red with Phlox, Shasta Daisies, Coreopsis, Black-Eyed Susans, and Agastache.

For best results with Panama Red, plant one rooted plug per 4-inch container. Use well-drained soil with a pH of 5.8-6.2, an EC of 1.0-1.2, and light feed (100-150 ppm). Bulk at 65-68 degrees for 6 weeks after transplanting. Grow cold at temperatures between 48-55 degrees for 5 weeks after bulking. Colder temperatures will take longer. Use a spray of B-9 at 2 ppm if needed. You may see aphids, japanese beetles, or eriophyid mites. Stem rot and powdery mildew can affect this plant.
