Emerald Pink, also known as Creeping Phlox, Phlox Subulata, and Moss Phlox, is a perennial flowering plant native to North America. This variety offers a compact, spreading habit of 4-6" tall and 12-24" wide, with pink flowers blooming in spring. Creeping Phlox attracts butterflies, resists deer and rabbits, and flourishes as a groundcover, spilling over rock walls or in containers, landscape borders, and rock gardens with little more than a sunny location and regular water. Emerald is more drought and heat tolerant than other varieties. Perennial and evergreen in zone 2-9, Emerald Pink is an obvious low-maintenance addition to the landscape for any homeowner. For an upright variety, try Phlox Sweet Summer Sensation Soft Pink.
Emerald Pink Selling Tips
Sell Emerald Pink to customers looking for a low-maintenance perennial for groundcover, landscape borders, rock gardens, or containers. This plant offers many benefits, including deer and rabbit resistance and prolific blooms that attract bees and butterflies in spring. Creeping Phlox is cold-hardy to zone 2 and flourishes in full sun with nothing more than regular water. Emerald has superior heat tolerance and is evergreen. Create a stunning landscape by growing this plant with Iberis, Dianthus, Iris, Penstemon, and Hosta or alongside tulips and daffodils for a show of spring color.
Coach Your Customer
1. Space plants 12-24" apart in well-drained soil in a location that gets at least 6 hours of sunlight.
2. Water once a week or less often in rainy weather and more often in drought.
General Growing Tips For Your Rooted Cutting Liner
For best results with Emerald Pink, plant one rooted liner per 4- or 6-inch container. Use well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-6.5, EC of 1.5-2.1 mS/cm (SME), and light feed (150 ppm N). This plant is day neutral and benefits from 6-15 weeks of vernalization at 35-41 degrees. After vernalizing, use average daily temperatures of 59-76 and light at 4,000-8,000 fc. Pinch once, and don't use PGRs. You may see mites, whiteflies, and aphids. Botrytis, root rot, and powdery mildew can develop, especially in overly wet conditions.
Flowering
Pink flowers bloom in spring.
Pinching
Pinch once.
Spacing
Space containers for adequate airflow around the base and foliage of each plant and to allow sunlight to penetrate to the soil level of each container.
Height Control
This plant doesn't require PGRs.
Pests
You may see spider mites, whiteflies, and aphids.
Disease
Powdery mildew is the primary disease issue with Phlox. Root rot and Botrytis can also develop in overlly wet conditions. Take the following precautions for prevention. Water plants at the base in the morning so they can dry out before nightfall. Space plants to allow for sufficient airflow; horizontal airflow fans are also effective at preventing outbreaks. Use a spray of Strike, Systhane (Eagle), Pipron, Terraguard, or Heritage to prevent powdery mildew.
Planting Emerald Pink Liners
We recommend planting one rooted liner per 4- or 6-inch container. Use a well-drained soil and completely bury the ellepot in the center of the container.
Rooted Cuttings
Cuttings vary in size between different plant families. These rooted starter plants will arrive ready to be transplanted in to your final container. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot or an 1801 before planting outside.

Before we take this relationship any further...
It looks like this is the first time you've added anything to your cart.
We just wanted to remind you that we are a wholesale starter plant company that sells to businesses, schools, clubs, and other non-profits. State law dictates that you must be growing for resale to order from us since we are not collecting sales tax.
If we aren't a match, we understand. It's not you, it's us.
We would look awful in orange jumpsuits.
